Frequently asked questions about migrating to Shopware 6

Support for Shopware 5 ends in June 2024, after which there will be no more official security updates for the system in addition to the already discontinued functional improvements. Without these updates, there may be security vulnerabilities that could jeopardise your business and your customers. We therefore strongly recommend that you upgrade to Shopware 6 in good time to ensure the continued operation and security of your online shop.

When migrating from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6, most of the data can be transferred from the database. This includes, for example, articles, categories, manufacturers, orders and free text fields.

However, due to the new structure, the following cannot be migrated: Shipping and payment methods, your previous theme or Shopware template, the email templates and the shopping worlds.

The duration of the migration depends on the complexity of the shop. Therefore, we cannot give a generalised answer here. Please contact usso that we can give you an individual assessment.

Shopware 5 plugins are not compatible with the new structure of Shopware 6. Many plugin manufacturers have already provided successors for Shopware 6. These must be purchased and installed again. Whether existing licences are refunded pro rata or discounts are granted depends on the respective manufacturer.

Due to the new technological basis, many functions have changed so that some extensions may no longer be required.
